Last summer, Comstock announced that a Matchbox pizza location will call Reston Station home. Specifically, the restaurant is planned to occupy an unimproved 6,000 square foot space on the first floor of the Google-occupied office building at 1900 Metro Plaza. Originally, the plan was to open in early 2020, and join Founding Farmers as one of the development’s primary eateries. Matchbox is a local wood-fired pizza chain with ten locations in the Washington area.
As can be seen in the photo above, the future restaurant location is still nothing more than words on paper. Considering the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, a 2020 opening probably sounds less appealing with each passing day. Notwithstanding this, the first half of 2020 was probably not happening anyway, judging by the state of the barren suite.
