Photos: Tysons Central under construction

Tysons Central is a 21-story office building under construction at the Greensboro Metro station. It is the second of six highrise buildings in the mixed-use development sharing the same name. The first, apartment tower Lumen at Tysons, was completed in 2018. The other four buildings are planned to contain a mix of residential, hotel, and office uses, all with ground-floor retail.

Developer Foulger-Pratt has conceived the new construction as an extension of the newly completed Boro neighborhood, which, along with neighboring developments, is quickly establishing itself as the new “downtown” area in Tysons. Tysons Central is planned to have an eighth-floor sky lobby, with scenic outdoor terraces on the eighth, twelfth and penthouse levels. The building will also feature a two-story ground floor lobby.

Currently, the building has no signed anchor tenant. When construction began in late 2019, the developer viewed the speculative move as an investment in the future of Tysons. Now, with the economy thrown into uncertainty due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, construction yet continues. Avison Young, the leasing broker, will have some time to secure occupants, as the building is not scheduled to deliver until early 2022.
